Regional Youth Leadership
What CPHA recognized over 50 years ago is even more true today. The most certain way to shape the future of the region tomorrow is to reach the young people today. They will be the decision-makers of the future. In addition, youth provide an invaluable perspective, optimism and energy that is a resource for our communities and our region. CPHA's Regional Youth Leadership program brought together 15 teens from Baltimore County and City for an intensive six week session. With a specially designed curriculum, they delved into the history and policies that shape our region. They practiced researching an issue, developing a position, presenting it to their peers, and advocating for it. And, they got practical experience surveying the current transit system. CPHA continues to serve as a place where youth from different backgrounds can learn about the region and their communities and can become advocates for the future they want to build.
"My daughter, Nailah Curtis, has benefited from her involvement with the leadership program at CPHA in many ways. I've witnessed her exhibit heightened levels of responsibility, leadership and committment."
